However, now with the slimmer models, suits are fitting a little closer to the body and some customers think they are constricting and tight. So we do suggest depending on the model, vendor and customer's body type to sometimes size up. We also apologize that the salesman's joking personality wasn't made clear to you. The salesman seemed less than interested in me. I tried on a Canali in a 40R, my typical suit size. The jacket squeezed my armpits, but he told me that's just the way the suit is made and I looked fine. When I tried on a 42R, he then told me that size was perfect and that I am definitely a 42. My entire closet is filled with 40R suits. So my concern is that he would have gladly sold me a 40 even though I looked like I was wearing my little brother's suit. When I tried on a few sport coats, the same saleman asked me what was stopping me from getting all three. I told him "my wife". To which he replied, "She's not here." Although I know my experience was limited to one salesperson, with this kind of bad advice and unscrupulous counsel, I'll never spend my money at this store.

I'm sorry you feel that way. We actually think people are coming to small shops more often now because they have relationships with their salespeople and make it an experience as opposed to shopping online without a face or name. I will never regret purchasing a suit here. Everyone on staff was committed to making sure I was confident with my purchase and looked fantastic. They have nice hand sanitizer too. Jim was particularly helpful

Cool store, but difficult to enjoy a look around because of the aggressive salespeople bugging you to buy a $500 pair of socks, or whatever. That's Canal Street for you though.
